Holden Madagame Relentless queer rage. Favorite track: Nothing Left to Corrupt.

bcb723 Part II of Valravne's "Some Kind Of Vampire" is even stronger than Part I - it's deeply fucked-up twin. More varied black metal, more Ted Bundy but these songs of mass murder are the absolute shit. Put the two halves together and this is quite the statement from Valravne. Favorite track: Nothing Left to Corrupt.

A A blade of many metals, seamlessly forged in the burning bowels of hell. Favorite track: Nothing Left to Corrupt.

SouthernWolf The first three tracks are more than enough to secure Valravne's place as a unique, ferocious talent in USBM, and then "Lucid Nightmare" kicks in, and I realized how versatile of a songwriter he is. Less vicious of a track, but incredibly stirring and cathartic. Likely my anthem for 2020.

Rambo Saw this came out and immediately bought it. Don’t even need to listen to the two new tracks to know it’s an instant purchase. This guy knows his stuff. Favorite track: I Only Pray For Your Death.

Nothing left to corrupt No child left untouched Government regimes with fascist schemes reaping nothing but disgust Plagues sweep the land Rape and torture in the plans Carried out with Glee Satan weeps atop his throne There he sits His work is done Nothing left to corrupt
2.
Filled with hatred For every life In existence But most of all yours I only pray for your death And every day, God fails me again I only pray for your death And every day, God fails me again Like he always has I want you to die I want to see buzzards pick at your maggot-ridden flesh I want to see your loved ones weep As I turn, corners of my mouth raised
3.
Raped into existence If given the option knowing what I know I would have declined Raped into existence Raped into existence Raped into existence Raped into existence I don't want to do this anymore I don't want to live I don't want to live If I shut my eyes it will all disappear Draw the curtains, not a soul allowed inside Safe inside
4.
You say your life Is a living nightmare Who am I to tell you no Who am I to tell you What you feel Isn’t real You say your life is a living nightmare It will be okay Do you remember being born?

about

"t’s a tremendously varied experience. . . The opener 'Nothing Left To Corrupt' kicks things off in a thundering and blazing rush, with a couple of early solos that are heroic. The song does have its moody and menacing aspects, but the super-heated energy of the track and its blaring melodies leave a dominant impression. The second track 'I Only Pray For Your Death' channels a wild ferocity, leavened with grand swirling and cascading melodies, fret-melting solos, and berserker vocals . . . And the last of these four, “Lucid Nightmare”, sort of betrays its title, because (at least to these ears) it’s resilient and defiant in its sound. The guitar instrumental that comes after the mid-point, which ventures far outside the conventional boundaries of black metal, is unmistakably buoyant and bright." - No Clean Singing

"Stepping out from those haunted shadows 'Lucid Nightmare' brings the biggest surprise of the EP with some Post-Hardcore riffs of bright beauty backed off by those evil vocals. The climbing solo is a pleasure and makes for a real step from Black Metal." - Metal Noise

"Some Kind of Vampire II is a showcase of the varying directions Black Metal can take. The updated recording, and the musicianship didn’t cause the raw, and intensity of classic Black Metal to be lost. The intense and aggressive first half sets up the utterly depressing second superbly. In a genre known for its typically horrendous recording quality, Valravne’s self recorded and self produced Some Kind of Vampire set of EPs sets a new bar for what Black Metal can be." - Sub-Standard Alien

"The last track - Lucid Nightmare brings completely different sounds. The music is clearly more harmonious, you could say it's arranged. Despite the growls that appear on each of the tracks on the album, here they get a bit less hateful, and the guitar rises above all else to end the album with a ray of light." - PodProgiem
